Hey guys so I’m looking to buy a 9 inch rear end from a guy on FB marketplace. He has never opened it but said it has 3.25 written on it. It the correct width for my 67 mustang. Its assembled with axles, no studs, backing plates and brake hardware, no drums, and pig. No tag. He said it is a 3.25 Posi. Of course I can check the axle ratio by counting pinion turns against the axle rotation. but is there a way to check if its actually a Trac lok vs spooled or welded spiders?

Pull the fill plug, the ring gear bolts are visible through the fill hole. If the bolts are on a flat plane, it's an open diff. If the case is counterbored for the bolts, it's a TracLoc or EquaLok
