Have I mentioned that I hate mosquitoes? Being from Michigan (where they come at you from behind in sneak attacks and seem as large as B-24 bombers) I thought I had this problem licked when we moved to North Carolina. The first few years down here were awesome bug-wise (excepting my wife having a cow over ginormous cockroaches and spiders from time to time). But then something changed. I suspect Her Highness the Grand Queen of Mosquitoes just up and decided to invade the Tar Heel State sometime around 1995. They don't appear as big as the ones I remember up north, and maybe they aren't as smart (you can see them coming a mile away) so you can take evasive action and even release and deploy counter-measures (your hands) sometimes. I hate those blood sucking things though, and the itching that comes along right after too. What's worse, they laugh at repellents (and most of those stink anyway).
So there you are, working on your car in your nice garage and you keep an eye peeled at all times. It's funny that the odd Black Widow or Brown Recluse spider doesn't bother me so much, easy see, easy kill I guess.
A couple of years into my build I saw that Harbor Freight sells this (standard two car) garage door screen and figured why not give one a try. I think I'm on my fourth or fifth now, they wear out after a couple of years give or take. I am sold on these, worth every penny, and they don't smell like a Shanghai port warehouse either. Drawbacks are you have to hook them up out of the way when going out (no big deal) and they are near invisible at times (the unwary will try to walk right through them). If you're clever at all installing them they don't even look like crap. Here's pics without and with:
Excelsior!
