Swapping to a v8 from the I6 starts with the front suspension. You need to swap to v8 spindles and steering, then the rear axle. Finding an 8" from a 65/66 mustang would be ideal, but, depending on where located that might be tough. IMO, swapping in an explorer rear axle is the next best thing but can run into some money since it seems you would need to pay someone to cut down the axle tube and use two short side axles in the shortened housing. Then you're talking the v8 engine, trans and ALL the supporting stuff, pulleys, radiator, exhaust, etc...

As I said in my other post about the yote swap, leave the 6 in the car and make it run decent. Upgrade the suspension and start accumulating parts and tools.

Finding a shop that will and has the knowledge to work on these cars at a reasonable rate is tough these days. The labor to do the swap could run into more than the cost of your entire parts list, which at a quick glance is gonna bump 10k real quick.
