Look here.

I checked the site where his picture was hosted and found it. The pic is from 1978.

Da, it is true: Helga did disappear into Canada and Yukon in late '70's, and she did have moped similar to the one pictured here and also clothes similar to these packed in old locked trunk in attic, and one of her favorite quotes is:

"There are three things that cause stress in life, I've discovered:
Our expectations of others.
Others' expectations of us.
Our expectations of ourselves."
-- Kerry Palframan

I never did know what this quote means exactly, but I know this could not be Helga, with her beautiful blond braids and her shiny pewter breastplate... I knew at times our life seemed like a Hollywood movie, but it was not "The Crying Game"... You are mistaken, of course...

The following description is from the Ramana Maharshi Website....

"Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, known as The Sage of Arunachala, is widely recognised as perhaps the most unique spiritual personality of the 20th Century. His life was a perfect example of simplicity, purity, equality and equanimity, born from an unalterable experience of supreme peace and oneness.
"The Maharshi's teaching of 'Self-enquiry' ( Pure Advaita ) is simplicity itself, requiring no outward formalities, no outer change of life, only a simple change in 'point of view' and a sustained effort on the part of the seeker. The goal is no heaven after death or a faraway ideal, but rather the removal of the ignorance that prevents us from knowing that we are eternally one with our Source. It is an experience than can be had now. All that is required is a sincere effort.
"On his deathbed the Maharshi told his grieving devotees, "You say I am going away, but where can I go? I am always here. You give too much importance to the body."

I guess if we thought about it....
Where does someone who travels as much as he does, get the time to surf online...let alone find the VMF.
Did anyone ever ask him if he has (or had ever owned a Mustang)?
What would make him spend his free time here?...aside from all the great people here of course! /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

This is an outrage. How did Walter Muma get a picture of Moped Boy and put it on his website? I'm going to look into this myself and see what can be done about this. The nerve of some people, stealing pictures off of VMF and using them elsewhere!

I'm shocked....shocked, and confused.......shocked, confused and dismayed.......no, flabergasted....yes that's it, I'm flaberghasted (choose your spelling)......no, now it's more like disapointment.....yes, definitly dissapointed and disillusioned......and angry....yeah, I'm damn mad....I'm one angry, mad disillusioned, dismayed, flaberghasted, disappointed, shocked individual.
No...now I'm just confused.....

Not that I'm trying to say that Moped_Boy is or isn't a hoax, but your 'proof' that he's a hoax because of finding that site probably isn't good enough. That site has been listed in Moped_Boy's profile since he registered, so he obviously wasn't hiding it.

So, if we're deciding he's a hoax, that may not be enough to go on.

Just being a continued skeptic.

His site boasts 600+ pages of content so I doubt anyone put it up just to play a joke. The journeys described there did happen so Moped_Boy is real in that sense.

Is it the same person that posts here under the handle Moped_Boy? Doubtful, so there's the hoax.

The site makes many references to the 1978 moped trip, not the 2001 moped trip or the continuing moped trip. The site is updated regularly too. The recent updates involve the naturization of his back yard. If he were still out on the road wouldn't the updates be about his current trip? It looks like his current project is the naturization of his back yard.

The site also shows his SWMBO, Julie which discredits the homosexual aspect mentioned here. What is Moped_Boy doing on a Mustang forum anyway. Shouldn't he be checking the Vintage Moped Forum? Given that his 1978 trip was 12,500 miles I would think he knows what 2 cycle oil works best too.

In a court of law you have to be proven guilty beyond a reasonble doubt, not beyond all doubt. I think there's plenty of evidence to show beyond a reasonable doubt that the person on the web site is not the person posting here under Moped_Boy.
