A couple data points that need to be mentioned. If this is an original Q-code 351CJ car, it already has a 2800 stall torque converter from the factory. Gearing would be either 3.50 or 3.25 if A/C equipped or it was optioned as such. Factory cam was a 270°/290° advertised duration with .481/.490 lift I/E.

My first recommendation is to talk to a cam company that specializes in 351C engines, such as Lykins Motorsports or Bullet Racing. I'd also recommend a hydraulic roller setup due to widespread issues with flat tappet cams and lifters.

If you don't want to go custom or roller, then I'd recommend a Lunati VooDoo grind. The 110320702 or the 703 would be a good bump, but you definitely would want to check piston to valve clearance, and upgrade to the matching springs, retainers and a one piece stainless valves - that means the heads need to come off. The 703 grind will produce 400 ft/lbs in a near-stock 72CJ engine, see dyno sheet below.

If you don't want to get into all that, then the "505" cam is also made by Lunati and is the last entry on the screenshot below - 10321001. It's .505" lift, but with a healthy bump in duration and is known as an excellent 351C-4V cam.
