I purchased a brand new TKX Tremec 5spd and I was measuring the input shaft and got measurements that varied .676 .682 .679 .674

The bushing that i would like to use is Mcleod bronze pilot bushing MCL-8-1380-2 but has a inner diameter of .672
that is supposed to be for a 351W manual shift.

Could I gently massage the inner diameter of that McLeod bronze bushing to make it fit or is there another brand of bushing out there that would be a better fit that I have not found yet?

I dont want to use a roller bearing.

I believe that most of the newer 5 speeds required a pilot bearing no a bushing.
also be sure you ck bell housing alignment. the newer 5 speeds have a tighter tolerance for alignment because of the type of bearings used in them.

Where did you hear that? I had a TKO and now run a TKX. I used a pilot bushing with both of them. I've never seen anything in Tremec's literature saying to use a pilot bearing and not a bushing.
