Should I Use Gaskets with my New Carb Spacer?

Just received my new Edelbrock 1" carb spacer from Summit today. (Even small packages are fun to get! ::) And when I spoke with the rep on the phone last week, he said it came as a kit and assured me it would have everything I'd need.

I assumed that meant a couple gaskets would be part of that kit; but there aren't any. I do need them, right? Should I be able to pick some up at Autozone, or will I have to order these as well?

And if I do need the gaskets, what sealant would everyone recommend for this particular application?

Thanks!

You definitely need them, or you'll be asking for a nice vacuum leak. I'd call Summit and ask them to send some out to you as promised. Or just get some locally....

Yeah, I was planning on 2 gaskets. I got a phenolic spacer specifically so it wouldn't conduct heat (having some hard hot starts).

What about their availability (can I use some sort of universal carb gasket) and the need for sealant?

I agree with Dicskon. Use a gasket on each side of the spacer. If it's a 4 hole spacer, use a 4 hole gasket, if it's an open spacer DON'T USE A 4 HOLE GASKET (use an open gasket) ... ask me how I know *LOL*.

You can pick up the gaskets at any auto parts store. You want gaskets for a square bore.
