Just wondering if its even possible to squeeze a T56 into a 67.

A couple of places come to mind immediately - DB Engineering located in Southern California has been offereing a T56 conversion for quite some time, although a bit pricey. Danny Banh at DB can be reached at (626) 571-7126. Another place, although I am not sure of the particulars, is http://www.darkhorseperformance.com. As the T56 becomes more available through wrecked cars, it should prove to be a very popular swap.....

Do you know if the conversion kit you mentioned will fit the GM (sorry for cursing /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif) Tremecs, since they're probably thre most abundant today and will be in the junk yards soon? Or would it even matter which transmission you use, assuming you have the correct bellhousing.

yes, in fact, that is what the DB conversion is based on - the same T56 6 speed that I have in my 97 Firebird Formula and 99 Camaro SS, capable of handling horsepower mods quitely nicely I might add. In fact, it is basically the same 6 speed in the Viper only the Viper has different gearing and tailshaft.

I have not personally tackled the T56 conversion yet, however, it appears very similar to the T5 conversion of which I have personally done several of. The last listing I got from DB was around 2600 bucks for the T56, bellhousing and shifter. Of course, you have to crank in the clutch activation mechanism, either clutch or hydraulic, as I do not think there is a bellhousing available to retain the original "push" Z-bar actuation, although I am not sure about this. Check out Darkhorse's website and see what they have to say - they are very knowledgeable in the restomod area, especially with 5 and 6 speed conversions in early mustangs....

On the left side of the site, click on R100RTs project. There, you will find what it takes to put a T-56 into a '65 FB. It's not a job for the mild mannered but I did it in two weekends. Be ready to cut the tranny hump up to get correct output shaft angle.

TY, Sir! I have made good progress as of late.. The turbo's are in the engine compartment, the 2.5" exhuast parts should be here soon so I can weld them in. The exhaust has to route over the top of the front wheels. The car should be finished for the spring shows, Lord willing.
