Last night, Chuck and I were working in his garage on our alternators, putting new stamps on them. I looked up and saw a 2-foot-long skinny snake coming in the garage. I'm not afraid of snakes but I do have a healthy respect for certain species. Chuck was working on Murphy's alternator so he told me to chase it out. I knew it wasn't a coral, false coral, or Mohave but it didn't click with me what it was at first. I looked for something to shoo it with and saw Trouble's fiberglass taillight panel--nope, not using that. I finally found a small, long box and started pushing it out. Damn, it was a baby diamondback rattlesnake and it was not a happy camper. It struck at me at least a half dozen times and was rattling its tail (no rattles yet). The baby rattlers are much more dangerous as their toxin is considerably stronger than the adults. Chuck finally went and got a shovel and we had a whacking day. We didn't want to kill it, but we couldn't take a chance of it coming back. Just another day in the desert....
