From the descriptions I know the car from looking at it last week or so. The description is inconsistant with what's observed on the car, just as the other's have said. A knowledgable, reputable dealer would know that, wouldn't fabricate or support contrary information about a car. That said, what are they not saying? and what other details can you place confidence in?
IIRC bidding was to START at about $15k; I thought a bit steep for a cobbled menagerie. If that car was converted to a "clone" in 1966, they took YEARS to gather the parts as cheaply as they could from what ever make car would furnish their interpretation of a Shelby-- From the Toyota GT letters to the General Motors 350 emblem. It looks like someone went out of their way to mix and match this thing together. The only things remotely Shelby-like with this thing is the bonded-on JC Whitney $29 hood scoop, the cheap side scoops, and a '68 tire pressure decal that couldn't be applied correctly. There's too much BS to list about this car.
Pay for it what it looks to be, a fastback needing a complete restoration where little of what you're starting with will be salvagable. Expect significant rust, and partially blocked to critical conditions in the heater core and radiator.
IMHO, the sellers, carsschmitt, are full of schmitt.
