Its on ehay 2449585219. The story seems kind of bogus but I guess its one of those take it for what its worth stories. Car looks like it could use an engine and engine bay detailing and a complete new interior. What are your thoughts on this one?

Did you see the 6x9 hack job on the inner quarter trim? Also the 'Shelby' sitcker there can not be 30+ years old. Looks brand new. The GT grill emblem looks like it's from a new model. and the '350' ? Does not look like $20 to me. No pic of the underside which says alot.

From the descriptions I know the car from looking at it last week or so. The description is inconsistant with what's observed on the car, just as the other's have said. A knowledgable, reputable dealer would know that, wouldn't fabricate or support contrary information about a car. That said, what are they not saying? and what other details can you place confidence in?

IIRC bidding was to START at about $15k; I thought a bit steep for a cobbled menagerie. If that car was converted to a "clone" in 1966, they took YEARS to gather the parts as cheaply as they could from what ever make car would furnish their interpretation of a Shelby-- From the Toyota GT letters to the General Motors 350 emblem. It looks like someone went out of their way to mix and match this thing together. The only things remotely Shelby-like with this thing is the bonded-on JC Whitney $29 hood scoop, the cheap side scoops, and a '68 tire pressure decal that couldn't be applied correctly. There's too much BS to list about this car.

Pay for it what it looks to be, a fastback needing a complete restoration where little of what you're starting with will be salvagable. Expect significant rust, and partially blocked to critical conditions in the heater core and radiator.

IMHO, the sellers, carsschmitt, are full of schmitt.

I ran the B.S Flag up the flag pole on this one too! Interesting history....how about a good made up story about a car that WAS once a nice fastback.
What happened to the GT-350H on the fenders,,the glass 1/4 windows...that the dealer would've corretly installed and had the correct wheels also. But wait was this the Shelby dealer...or the ford Dealer? Hmm after the two fastbacks I looked at yesterday that were suppose to be "flawless" I think I'm getting sick..

I especially like the -CLONE DISCOUNT ~ $46,400.00 !?!?! LOL

The BS flag was raised by me too. Yes I did notice the 6x9 hole cut out in the rear for a speaker. Noticed the mix and match parts and the missing 'H' for the GT350H and then the missing quarter glass instead of the louvres. If a dealership did in fact do this wouldn't you have received some type of receipt or something?

How about the disk brake pedal with the drum brake MC? The engine wiring to the coil with the twist-nut, BS valve cover bolts?

Buck tag is gone, and not even an export Brace. Run far, far away.

I've seen some of the cars this company has put up, mostly in the porsche sections b/c I have a thing for the 996 and they have all seemed to be pretty nice cars, etc. Why would they even bother posting the story yet alone saying it was factory? Doesn't that make them look bad? You would think they wouldve done some research before posting that story!

why would they do this....hmm lets count the reasons.
MONEY ...a sucker born ever minute....fool and his money soon part... Anyone got some reasons?
I personally have never met a car salesman with a soul.
Disclaimer : One of my best friends is a sales manager new and used. This is the reason why he will never sell me a car.

WOW,
This is the best case of buyer beware I have ever seen. It doesn't take much of an eye to tear this one to pieces.

For a car with less than 50K miles (more like 250K) the carpet, guages, seats, panels... have all had a very hard life.

All the best,
