I'm going to try to get a title to my 69 Mach. Bought car from a place called Mustang Mart, aka Mustang Motorworks. They gave me a bill of sale and a California form called "Vehicle/Vessel Transfer Form" signed by some person., but no address is filled in.(That's why I think the car is from CA) I tried one of those VIN trace company's, and they returned my money and said that you can't do a VIN trace/search in California. I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. Any suggestions, anybody?????????? :: ::

Do you have a registration, title or any other legal document for the car?

Are you saying you don't even know what state this car is titled in?

Have you taken what you have to the Arizona DMV to see if the title can be transferred with the paper work you have? That's where I'd start, and see what THEY tell you that you need, since that's where you ultimately want it titled/registered.

If it turns out that you just need the name/address of the currently registered owner, and it is titled in California, get prepared to shell out some $ to a lawyer or private investigator. The ONLY thing the California DMV will release to the public is the name of the currently registered owner ... nothing else. I know this from when I was trying to find the uninsured jerk that totalled my Camaro, because she lied about her insurance and address.

Yea, the only thing I've got is this "Vehicle/Vessel Transfer Form" next line "Bill of Sale,Odometer Disclosure, Power of Attorney". I guess I should start at the AZ DMV like you said, taking into consideration what johnpro over in Roseville said.

If you have a Marti it should have the original dealer listed. If they are still in business they might just happen to have some paper work for the car and the original owners name. I tried this once but the dealer said they destroyed the records when the moved locations though.
