My 65 fastback has a condensor mounted on the voltage regulator that the wire pulled out of. So, I want to replace this animal. NPD has one listed in the catalog but it goes for $56.70.

Does anyone else know of a source for this that is more reasonably priced?

When my radio interference suppressor thing broke, I had a lot of problems, especially if your running a newer stereo. I could hear buzzing for the headlights, turn signals, heater, pretty much anything electrical made teh radio buzz. Even the horn when It was pressed! I took my original to the ford dealership, and low and behold, they still carry a similar part. Looks radically different and carried a econoline part number, but it worked and mounted in the same place. If originality isnt an issue, I'd go with the improved ford version. If I can find the P/N I will post it in a bit.

Paul,
I recently went through all this myself. If you're looking for an original type replacement, you won't be happy with the NPD part. It is a Motorcraft replacement but is nothing like the original (kind of U-shaped and black).

The condensor off of my '70 is part# C6OA-18832-A. A search of the Web for this PN came up empty. I ended up using another old original. However, I dabbed a little JB Weld around the base of the wire before I attempted any cleaning.

A week or so ago I was looking through some boxes and came across a repro alternator harness that I had forgotten about. Lo and behold, in the opened bag was a NOS Motorcraft condensor (must have picked it up years ago!). It is almost identical except the cylinder is about 1/2" shorter. The part# is E1AF-18832-AA. I haven't looked on the net for this PN so you might give it a try.
