What car do you kick yourself for selling?

For me it would be (not necessarily in this order):
  • 67 Impala SS convertible (sold it for $1,500 in early 90's)
  • 78 Camaro Z/28 (traded in to dealer to buy a POS commuter car!)
  • 73 Charger SE (traded for a busted up Yamaha Virago)
  • 86 Chevy K5 Blazer (was just taking up space)
  • 95 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 with ALL options ($12K in 2006 to buy a family car [baby on the way])

So far I don't regret selling any of mine.

67 Mustang Coupe - Did all I wanted to it, wanted something newer
2001 Mustang GT - Automatic, sold for manual
2003 Mustang GT - Started new job and needed better mpg, it was also starting to fall apart
2009 Honda Civic - Had the tahoe already and the a/c had went out
2007 Chevy Tahoe - Wanted a truck so I sold it for my current F150
2001 Honda Accord - Flipped it for $1000 profit

Man, those VR4’s are cool, provided you don’t have to work on them.

I don’t regret selling any of them, mostly because I kept my 66. I had considered getting rid of it after fastback prices blew up, and I had dreams for a 49-51 Ford or maybe a model A roadster. Still haven’t made those happen, but in retrospect, would have eaten my heart out if I sold the fastback.

I do kind of miss my 05 Mustang GT. Ordered it from the factory and had done some cool tasteful mods to it. Later found out it had gotten totaled. Had to sell it to afford the new baby. We did the math to figure out the conception date… turns out it was the night I got that car.

Yeah, the engine compartment on a VR4 is spaghetti. It takes 6 hours to check/change the spark plugs because you have to REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD to get to 3 of them!

They were just used cars back in the day, but:

1967 Fastback that had been professionally converted to. 427Side Oiler, top loader and full float 9”. I had the medium riser set up on, but also had the complete setups for low and high riser also.

1970 1/2 Z28 from the original owner. Still 100% stock LT1 motor, rock crusher and 12 bolt rear.

sometimes I cry at night…….

I don't regret selling any of them because situations drove my decision. I wish I could find 66#1, a lowly gorgeous red sprint 200. But I don't regret selling #1 because it let me buy 66#2, an eye-popping 4-speed GT with tons of options like FM radio. I don't regret selling #2 because it wasn't the right car for starting a family.

Looking back, I sold them both to fund the purchase of another car. I guess I regret that I wasn't a millionaire. I only sold them because I was a hundredaire at the time.

Weirdly, sometimes I regret NOT selling my ‘65 back before I went to college. I drug it all over the country with me and never really got to enjoy it. I could have sold it, not dealt with the hassle, and been able to get back into the game when I was ready and get the car of my dreams - a ‘69 or ‘70 fastback.

I’ve got too much into it now to justify selling it just to upgrade (if life situations dictate it, that’s another thing), which is fine - I still love the ‘65-‘68 coupes. But I do wonder “what if” sometimes.

My first car. A 1968 Gulf Stream aqua coupe with two-tone interior and not a spot of rust. I bought it after I graduated college in ‘93. I had it for a couple years, I had to move to a job in Texas and needed a better car to drive across the country in. Years later when I mentioned that I hated selling it, my parents said I could have stored it at their house…thanks, now you tell me.
I sold it to a local kid who crashed it.

In 2018, sold my Factory Five Cobra replica. Lots of reasons for selling it, primarily to fund my Mustang restomod.
