Is it a roller or just a shell ( i.e. does it have glass, wiring, rear end, dash etc..)? If it just a shell I would have to say that I think you are on the high side. Would also need more info on the car such as door data plate info, options etc.. to determine the real value. Good luck.
as i recall.....i have the wireing in a box,i have the side vents, seats,i think i have nice doors with the glass, have the rear window, some moldings, trap door, decklid and few more things.now it has the front radiator core support off and the right side apron with the ID# becaused they were damaged! but i have the damaged arpon with the ID# still, also shows the id # on the other aprons, even have the orig door tag......Jim
I think you are right on, for a solid car and with all the parts. I would Ask $12,500 but make the car rollable. Good luck! ( You just never know sometimes, I'm really surprised I still have my running driving 289 65FB for sale on here for $12,500 )
A friend of mine has a '66 K-GT fastback rolling shell that he has hinted to me he may sell. A-code engine with it, but has the toploader, correct 9-inch, and all the rest of the parts with the car. Needs the whole floor pan. He put a NOS convertible quarter on one side, and has the other convertible red oxide quarter for the other side, but decided to just fix the original quarter instead. Had some patches butt welded into the trunk floor also, but otherwise rest of the car is solid. Just all apart now. He was offered $10k before but the car wasn't for sale then. I think I could buy it in that range (maybe a little under 10).
Problem is I just don't have the cash.
Bottom line is that you are probably in the ballpark with yours. There are enough K-code and fastback vultures around looking for them, so I would doubt it will take long to sell it even if you aimed a little high on price. Have fun.
I see you are from Bedford, Virginia. My -66 came from near there. I believe it spent most of its life in the Lynchburg area before I bought it. I bought it from a guy in Evington back in 1990.
Anyway.....just by chance:
You don't happen to have been into Mustangs in the '80s and followed what was in the area back then? This car was a black and highly primered coupe, and on the road in '85. The lady that owned it back then I believe was in Amherst at the time. Some day I want to take a drive over there and try to find the previous owners.
Here's what looks to be a similar shape car but it sounds like yours is more complete. They were asking $14.5k... it sold but I don't know at what price.
Kevin, We moved here from Texas in 99'. So I can't help you there. Evington is in the southern part of the county just outside Lynchburg. We could always ask around... pretty tight nit community so I am sure we could find out. This Sat. night is a cruise-in in Bedford, if you felt up for a drive you could come ??
Another idea would be take out an ad in the local Lynchburg or Bedford paper. There is a free trading post here called the message board... www.ymb.com would be a free place to place an ad ?? Just ideas... drop me an email.
Cool, thanks. Figured it would be a long shot. I am about 3 hours from there I am guessing, and with the carb all screwed up right now, it is all I can do to drive to work and back. Maybe by fall I can make a nice Saturday road trip over that way.
I'll shoot you an email. I have some other details about the PO's (like where they live) that I wonder how far you are from them.
Evington is 30minutes or less from me. Let me know when you wanna come down, and we will see what we can track down. Don't give-up. I recently had an issue with a 68 FB Vin#, and was able to track down the local history of the car all the way back to 1973 and the mechanic that use to inspect the car... long story, but it's just been a roller coaster with this one.
