What is it about our vehicles? That we feel we need to give them a name. Is it because it's part of the family? And like new babies.. that is one of the first things we do for them.. we name them.

I mean we don't just call our Dog by dog.. or cat by cat.. well, some people do.. and that's just weird.. lol 🤪

Is it because we're lazy and when we speak of it, we don't want to say the entire description of what it is?

Are we influenced by Hollywood and think that it's a character and deserves it's own moniker.. I mean tow-mator is freaking epic.. lol 😆

My last mustang was painted a dark candy apple red so i dubbed her Eye-Candy.. or Candy for short.. she was easy on the eyes.. candy is sweet.. get it? LoL.

My truck is F150 Supercrew 6" lift on 37s and triple black, even quintuple black if you wanna count turn signals and windows.. so I've dubbed him Vader..

My wife's current Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid is her grocery getter and all around "if we travel anywhere we take it" and she calls her Bessie.. like the tried and true cow that always delivers milk.

If you've made it this far and haven't chalked me up as completely nuts..

I've hit a wall.. and I need help.. my baby needs a name.. and I've yet to name her/him.. what name should I give my mustang? And the one I like the most and choose gets something special.. ☺

Not sure what the answer to that would be, other than if male owned then the Mustang is the "Other Women" in the eyes of wives/G.F's. Many of my friends named the pets after car names.

I've posted this before on other threads, but when my friends and I name vehicles we pick a name that is part of or the name of a song that fits the car.
My friends camaro was 'Bad Company'
A friend's big black truck was 'Night Train'
My '96 F250 is 'Freight Train'
My '92 F150 is 'Kit Shicker'
My wife's '66 is 'Sweet Sangria'
My '66 is 'Midnight Express'

I drive fast and the color is Midnight Blue Metallic.
My handle is 'Midnight' because I'm often up late burning the midnight oil and I'm a darker 'goth kid'

To me, that car looks like an "Eastwood". It's no spring chicken, but lean, ready, and still handsome. It looks like it's been around the block a few times, taken some punishment, but is still standing. Tough, and a little mean. Not to be trifled with.

... and could maybe use some Eastwood products to freshen it up too. =)

My own car named herself. She's Veronica.
I mostly drive my wife's old car, at least until Veronica's running again! She's "Poppy". A 2003 Yaris sedan. She started out as "Plastic Piece Of Crap", which, if you squint hard enough has some of the sounds to make "poppycock" as a nickname, and came back around to "Poppy".
My wife is now driving a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage (no she's not a car person) named Mira.
Dad's 1982 F250 (a much abused commercial work truck when he got it) was "Bouncing Betty Ford". It was a testament to her worn out suspension, and the likelihood that she'd kill or maim men much like the Vietnam-era mines. (Dad's a veteran). Also she was an older, but still attractive vehicle... lol

When my 67 vert fell in my lap 6 years back at an unbeliveale price i named Her the money pit because the first thing i purchased was a never ran Classic Inline fully ported alumn head . You have a small 6 Ford you know nothing is cheap for them that ups the power , nothing .
That thing cost a few bucks so there i was ,she.named her self . The name was just a reaction to that first big inital purchase .
Now its too late for a different name .

I think you should name it "Snow Miser" after one of my favorite Rankin/Bass Christmas specials. Or, better yet, name it "Thrym" after the king of the frost giants in Norse mythology! Honestly, "Khione" after the godess of snow in Greek mythology would work too.

My family has never been into naming cars but my stepdad had a 2020 Trail Boss that got nicknamed "Gil" or sometimes we called it "Favor". My white Mustang will probably get named "Shadowfax" but I'm still thinking.
