Why do so many feel that they have to have their cars tricked out to be beautiful? What's wrong with stock? I mean omfg... the car when it rolled off the manufacture's lot... should have been sweet enough to taste.... Why ruin a good thing by blinging it out.......? I did buy my man an after market Holley 500 2 barrel carb.. but like that is not really doing that much to change all that was natural to the mustang.....in the beginning... Mustangs were meant to be wild and free and always considered beautiful.. when running free.. this is just my own thoughts..and ty for reading this.. and truly..is any one out there keeping their Mustang so close to original....I know I plan to.. even going to try and get the original color back for paint soon...Love the green.... Maybe I am just old school..but I do so love my 67stang...

I almost wrote a very long rebuttal. I am on the other spectrum, starting from a $400 parts car mine is far from stock BUT, I don’t mind that you keep yours stock. Be open minded is my advice. I did a lot of things to my car out of accessibility (the 6 speed was available when something less extravagant wasn’t), convenience, power, fuel economy and most of all safety. So I have 19” wheels, Shelby drop, a supercharger, big engine, 6 speed, and suspension and brakes to support it among other odds and ends. It’s a fun car to drive, to be seen in, to share. I’ve driven a fairly stock 66 Mustang and my current 66 Mustang cross country on separate occasions. I invite you and your husband to drive your Mustang to Dayton, OH, to come over and drive my Mustang. I’ll even feed both of you. I bet I could convince you or your husband to make a few changes to your stock car. There’s my challenge, if your car is so perfect, drive it the way it was driven new. Drive it across this great continent. How much confidence do you have in your car?

Thanks for the invite.. and I never said my car was perfect.. but to me in my own eyes it is a thing of beauty.. and we don't plan on doing too much to it other then paint now.. and well.. as for coming to Ohio? I don't think that will happen.. that is too far for me sorry.. :)

Wheels are looking good there!

My steed is being built as a subtle street trans am. I went with a dull engine bay (despite everyone telling me to clear and shiny it), it will be detailed like factory with the right stickers and what not, and the exterior will look as stock as possible (hard to say that when im putting on a shelby hood, r spec front valance, side scoops)

motor is a clean and simple 289 painted ford blue. interior will be completely stock except for woodgrain glove box, instrument bezel, steering wheel and tilt column.

suspension, steering and brakes are far from factory and i have 16x8 vintage wheel works v45s

at the end of the day it wont look like a modern car but it will handle and drive like better than it did in 66. if anything it will just look like a freshly painted classic looking but modernized shelby.

after all its my car. I do however admire completely stock classics they are absolutely gorgeous and had my car have been a gt or something worth it, i would have restored it to factory.

You actually like the look of rear end lower than the front, the unsafe low back bucket seats, the single lap belt, the single reservoir "jelly-jar" master cylinder and the non-collapsible "spear-O-death" steering column?? Not to mention the poor handling, poor braking and the excessive wheel hop - that is IF you're able to actually spin the tires on a stock 2 bbl coupe. Go for a ride in a Mustang that's been Resto-Modded correctly and you'll be standing in line to buy some safety technology and performance upgrades.

I've always liked the classic cars to look like they did when they rolled off the factory floor and quiet as possible. On the other hand, I certainly appreciate the talent, skill and ideas that go into the modified cars. There sure are some beautiful modified Mustangs on this forum. I can also appreciate a built up engine with that nice throaty sound to it. To each his (her) own.

I agree with ya grasshopper.. there certainly are some major sweet rides that are modified.. I guess I just wanted to hear it from all on their own likes and dislikes of original vs modified lol.. and well.. I am not against modifying.. not at all.. just wanted to hear why individuals like it and or don't .. and love all the responses I have gotten so far.. and ty for reading my post everyone.. this is so neat to see just what people like and or don't.. hope to hear even more comments about people and their cars.. and I do hope to have some more pics soon.. once I get my interior finished and paint done:) cannot wait.. spring cruising on a warm night.. going to be fun.. that's all I can say.. :)

I modified my fastback to represent what I would've liked to have been able to order if I had been able to order it new, or the day one changes I would've done back then. There are a few subtle things that are "modern" but I tried to build it old school. I had visions of building this exact car for many years before I actually did it.

You are entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to mine.

Since I like to drive my cars I do things to them to make them more pleasurable to drive. Sorry if that offends you.

"in the beginning... Mustangs were meant to be wild and free and always considered beautiful.. when running free.."

True, but if you wanted to ride one it had to be saddle broke...
