I need to install the chrome rails on the upper door frame under the weather stripping. When i removed them they had a black sticky calking type stuff. It wasnt hard. So what should i use to reinstall them?

The "black sticky calking type stuff" was probably 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive.

I bought some 3M auto attachment tape. 1/16" x 7/8", it's all I could find locally!

Its not that stuff. I have have some of that and its green glue. This stuff is like mastic.

Nope..they make yellow and black 3m weatherstrip adheasive. If it's not that, its bedding adheasive, or seam sealer, or whatever the nonhardening goo from hell is that Ford was obsessed with.

So what would I use today, or what is a good alternative?
