I've looked at several pics of Rangoon Red and Candy apple red and wonder, what's the difference? Is the '65 color Rangoon red a bit lighter than '66 Candy Apple red? While your at it, why don't you post pic's of your red cars to help me decide. I really like the Bright Red on 2004 F150 trucks and wonder how similar it is to either of the vintage colors.

Thanks

My convertibles paint (pictured below in the sig line) is a modern red. (A - gasp - Chevy red). Most Ford red colors prior to candy apple had either a little or a lot of orange in them.

CR red is a bit darker but not quite as dark as the above chip. Rangoon has a different tint, as mentioned, than CR. Not that it's important, but it is the 66 color and is a richer red.

When having a 65 GT cv painted, the shop owner had a Sikkens mixing system. He was able to mix a very small quantity of the chosen color and let me look at it. Turned out he was on the money and I was happy. :) With the PPG system, CR red formula is on the money.

Here is a shot of my 66 candy apple red coupe (now sold). I always thought Rangoon Red was darker and didn't have the same depth IMHO.
