For those looking for perrrrrfection, I suggest contacting the RAACDPP (Retired Association of AC Delco Production Personnel) and have them hand-form a cap which would then be "period-correct" (only joking!)

K. Distributor and Cap:
Distributor: Autolite (except 289 HiPo, FoMoCo). Proper design and natural aluminum finish. Correct for year and model.
Cap: Black with raised AUTOLITE letters.

My order arrived today, the box says Autolite, but the distributor cap doesn't.

Virginia Mustang also carries the correct Autolite cap.

Charles, do you know if AMK makes their own or are they out-sourced? I bought an Autolite reproduction direct from the manufacturer (lectro motive or something like that) and the dang thing fit so tight it cracked putting it on. I sent it back for a replacement and it was the same so I sent it back for a refund. They stuck me with a restocking fee plus the cost of shipping it back twice plus the original shipping. I lost out on this one. I don't want to order one from AMK and go through the same thing again...

 

Be best to give them a ring and ask. I'm sure they're out-sourced, but I've never had a problem with fit with their caps.

 

Ok Charles, where do you find the autolite dizzy caps on the AMK website? I searched high and low and could not find them...

I couldn't even find them in the .PDF catalog...

Oh well, no big deal. Autolite isn't the only correct cap on a '66, right? I've got my #1 cap which works just as well if not better than the Autolite repop...

I'll give them a call tomorrow anyway just because I want to know who makes them. The lectric limited cap just won't fit without cracking it or grinding out some of it. They specialize in bowtie wiring so what can you expect. Only Ford product they carry and of course they didn't get it right... More MCA approved crap...
