Thanks, I really enjoyed looking at everyones cars for the past few months! I attached a link to photos of my car. My Grandparants bought this 1966 Sprint 200 new, I owned it from 94 to 99 and sold it to my brother in Virginia, he put 12,500 miles on it. I finally got it back last year!!:pirate: it now has 24,750 on it!:crybaby: I could kill my brother! lol! Everything was original when I sold it to him! Every belt, Bolt, Tires were all original, he switched out the tires and even changed the spare which still had the blue paint on the white wall and they threw it away?? I've been working over the last year to get it back to original. I'm getting ready to put Bias Ply Tires back on it. wondering about Red lines or Keeping the white walls? Let me know what you think? or any sugestions, I'm debating on trying to show it concourse but dont know how it would do? Thanks again, Jerry

As original as your car is, I would suggest putting the correct whitewalls on your car. I have 6.95 x 14 BF Goodrich Silvertown bias ply tires on my convertible (see my profile pic) and love the way they make the car look. I looked at the redlines for my car, but am very happy with the WSWs.

You'll hear people tell you how bad the bias ply drive and how much better radials are. After about 300 miles on my bias plys, I'll tell you that there is no problem with them. It's a different driving experience (tires squeal in sharp turns, small tread patch), but I don't drive my car over 75 and don't go barreling into turns.

Remember, the 65 cars used a 7/8" whitewall and the 66 cars used a 5/8" whitewall. Also, PM me if you want some advice on where to buy them for less and with less expensive shipping.

Thanks for the input! I think i'm going to stay with the White Walls as it came with. I could do what I saw one guy do, he liked two styles of wheels so he put one style on the left and one style on the right! He said no one ever says anything they only see one side at a time and he's happy?

I guess I just never did figure out the fascination with red lines. I don't care for the looks of them but to each his own. I prefer the white walls for a classic look. I also like the white letter tires with the styled steel wheels.

Beautiful care Ivygreen65.

I vote White Walls....especially if its a Sprint 200 as nice as yours. Bias Ply tires are horrible in the rain, and if you've ever had a car with good bias ply tires "get away" from you during a rainstorm..and experienced it, You will know what I mean. Also, Stopping distance is horrible with Bias tires also vs. radials. Bias Ply tires have a bad habit of "sliding" on concrete in a sandy intersection for example. Any motorcyle rider will tell you about that problem.

Your car is really nice, so I don't know how much actual driving that you'll be doing with it. If you're going to show the car alot, You can go with the Bias Ply original type tires, If not, I suggest going with the Firestone FR380 White walls in P205 70 R14 size.

I like oversize radials, and I have the P215 75 R14's on my car.. I love them.

If you're going to do more driving with the car than showing it, I vote going for the radial tires 1000 percent. What you could do is get a 2nd set of 4 original '65/'66 4 lug 14" Ford wheels and have the radials mounted on them, and have the Original Bias ply tires mounted on the original rims...and just swap them out for shows. That's what I usually do. Saves time, and you get the best of both worlds.

I'm not going to drive it much at all, probably less than 100 miles a year? The car has only been in the rain when my dumb azz brother drove it! my Grandmother never drove in the rain or snow and I never will either at this point. I ordered the bias ply BF Goodrich 295/14 5/8" WW Tires You guys were a big help!! Thanks, Jerry

Buying a 66 cpe, NOT a Sprint, new, it came with bias tires. Drove through heavy rains in rainy season and routinely "dragged" the brakes if they got soaked. This is what everyone did in 1966. Traffic being a bit lighter than today, cars did move a little bit slower but the "horrible" adjective is a bit much.
If you want bias tires, you won't get the same performance as radials, but they won't put you in a ditch or whatever, if you drive carefully. Personally, would have radials like what's on my Mustang. Your car is very nice, your bro. should have his butt whupped with barbed wire for tossing the original spare LOL!
Not totally "up to speed" re MCA judging, thought I saw that radials would not get a gig on driven concours. They sure shouldn't!

A lot depends on how they will accent the rest of your car. My Mustang is red with black interior and convertible top. The red dual lines totally go with my Mustang.

white walls:thumbsup: I have the beehive hubcaps with white walls and I bought a set of 14" style steel wheels with white walls...

Like 'ivygreen65' mentioned the beehive hubcaps really set the 65 cars off. I've been debating on going back to the classic look and putting back the beehives.

Richard is a fellow member of my local Mustang club and a friend. You should see how nice his K-Code (and its red lines) look in person. It's awesome!
