I have been toying with the idea of putting a 4 speed in my car. I found this on ehay...... auction number: 2403554818. Judging by the vibration, I assume it needs re-built. Also, one of the ear's is broken off..... how hard would this be to fix? It has a buy it now of 250.00..... and that is the cheapest I have ever seen a toploader go for......

Have ever thought of putting a t-5 5speed tranny in. They pretty much bolt right in (new crossmember, ron morris clutch cable, some driveline mod) and your on the road. It great having that 5th gear!

If it's got a vibration in it you're probably right about the re-build hence taking it all apart which will make it pretty easy to replace the case. If you do want to replace the case, I think the hard part might be finding another good case. I never could find one for mine so I cut an ear off a bad case and welded it on to my case using the bell housing as a jig to line it all up. Worked out fine.

I think with the amount of power I will be putting out with the next engine, I would rip 2nd gear out of a T5. I want a toploader, because they are supposed to be alomst bullet proof. I am building the chassis up, before the new motor. I just put in a 9 inch, with a Detroit Locker, and 4.11 gears..... Tranny is next...... then the motor.
