hi, first post here so please be gentle .. i was at carlisle over the weekend and came across a set of 4 wheels and just as i started to try to measure the backspacing, i was practically drowned standing up .. so ... i did a very cursory measure at 4 to 4 1/4 bs .. i know that 4 1/2 is the desired number, but just how critical is that other 1/4 to 1/2 inch? .. the guy doesnt live far from me so i'm thinking of taking a second look later this week .. any help is appreciated ..(66 fastback, suspension is stock for now) thanks

basically a stock size wheel, 15" x 7 or 8 (tires were on it so i couldnt measure the rims width ...and i literally had to run just as i came across them ... they were buried in 2"'s of water, saturday was a messsss at carlisle ...

these are the older american racing vector style aluminum wheels, and would look great painted between the ribs ...

hope that helps .. i'm going to call the guy thats selling them, tomorrow and try to find out more ... he was only asking 80 for the set, including the tires ...

okay finally got the info .. the wheels are 15 x 7 .. 4 1/4 backspacking .. so going by Jays site and another chart i found in a mustang mag, looks just right ....

one thing though .. i hadnt thought much of it before, but the wheels have universal slots for the bolt holes .. in other words they have diagonal slots about an inch long for each hole to accomodate different bolt hole sizes ... as i recall this was a common thing back in the "old" days .. but how safe are they? .. any thoughts or horror stories? .. trying to make a decision before sunday .. thanks ..

well ignore my previous post .. i thought this was over but alas ....i went to measure the wheels today and discovered i'd been given the wrong info .. instead of 15x7's with 4 1/4 bs, the wheels are 15x8's with 4" bs. ...whew .. so i need to increase the backspacing a bit right? from the charts it looks like i need a 1/4 in the front and 1/2 in the rear? ... any thoughts welcome .... ::
