Rusty - you do quality work--

for the rest of you-- i would assume the "supplement" that was mentioned in the start of the thread is the owner topping it up-- not Hagertys.. more than half of the work isnt related to the claim. ive dealt with other insurance companies but i would guess hagertys gave a fixed amount and wrote the car off-- the customer decided to fix it? ..
the total repair likely exceeds 50k .. as i speculate..

this car was beyond "economical" repair- easy to see after but would have been better off with a virgin metal car then swap driveline -- i doubt rustys "parts car" was in any worse shape overall.. and he wouldnt put that back together --

it is a car again but thats a lot of labor put into a car that isnt worth it (is it? ) i have that much time in my vert but i didnt pay someone $50hr or whatever the shop rate is there.
-- i know where a Duesenberg is getting restored and its about this effort but its worth 20x the mustang ..

Brian had the floor in and out a few times getting it to fit and drilled the holes for the plug welds

Floor in for the last time and welded

Sanded to bare metal

I sprayed two coats of SPI black epoxy

Starting to line up the sheetmetal

I'm impressed with the work, but also VERY impressed with Hagerty if they are covering the cost for a more or less total restoration for a rear-ender.
Is this still insurance or is the owner picking up some of the cost?

The A pillar was damaged in the accident and that is when we found the rust

We used the other 1966 convertible we are restoring to make the jig needed for this project.

Test fitting the rear frame rails

Fitting the trunk floor pan

Fitting the floor pan

The frame rails have been welded but everything else is just screwed together at this point.

Guess it's a little late for a hilarious, "that should buff right out!" comment. But great work. Get as many of these cars back on the road as possible.

Almost makes me want to get hit and send my car down your way.

Just out of curiosity, how does it work when during the course of your repair you find old damage such as rust that require repair in the process of fixing accident related repairs?
