I am curious to see how many cars like mine are left. I know there weren't very many produced and most people aren't even aware of their existence.
I own a 1970 Mach 1,428 SCJ (4 speed car wouldn't you know it)? Color is medium brite blue metallic. It came factory with a white shaker, white trunk stripes, and white pin stripes. Documented.

Anyone out there have a similar car? Sure would like to hear from owners of 1970 white shaker cars. Especially original owners. Anyone know any production figures for these cars?
Thanks for the space.

I know of one other owner; contact me directly for details. I'm not sure you'll have any luck with firm production numbers, though, because I've never seen or heard of any records documenting hood stripe and shaker scoop colors. Anecdotal evidence may be the best we can do these days.

There used to be a daily driver 351 Dark Ivy Green Mach here in Huntsville with white stripes and shaker. Have not seen it for years, though...

My car is an unrestored project. Pretty much a basket case right now and not very photogenic. I bought this car years ago from a friend and had owned it for several years before I was aware of it's rarity.
My friend who sold me the car came to visit one day and as we were talking about the car he said he always wondered if the white stripes were original. I asked if it would tell on the build sheets that I had found in the car. We examined them and in the tape stripe boxes the build sheets were marked with a (W).
I later talked to several very knowledgeable Mustang collectors including Jim Wicks, Ed Myers, and Rick Kirk who all confirmed the existence and rarity of 1970 Mach's with white stripes and white shakers. This white stripe option is also noted in the "Mustang Recognition Guide."
I have another friend who has original Ford literature he received with the purchase of a new 1970 fastback. This literature shows a green Mach 1 with white stripes. Kind of neat.
I have been gathering NOS parts to use in it's resto for years. Among the parts I've accumulated are NOS white shaker scoop, NOS white shaker trim ring and NOS white trunk stripes. All Ford boxed.
I have about everything I need now and hopefully I'll get time to start it's restoration soon. Thanks for the interest.

The "white shaker" is the rare option, but "Raven black" Mach 1's came with white stripes. I suppose you could have ordered "black on black" but I have seen several black Mach 1's with white hood paint and rear deck stripe. If they applied this white option to "all" dark colors I do not know. There is a web site that has the color swatches listed for a 70 Mach 1.
Its in the list of link pages posted on the VMF home page. Also try www.fomoco.com and post your question there.

We purchased a Mach 1 from southern AL about 5 years ago, torn apart for a resto that the P.O. gave up on and traded it in. It was originally Dark Ivy Green, shaker and white stripe but was painted Calypso before it was disassembled which was around 2000 or '01. Maybe the one from Huntsville as there weren't too many of them. When it's done it will be back to original. Original options per Marti report: 351C, 4bbl, auto, Dark Ivy Green, shaker, white stripe, dual paint stripe, a/c, power disc brakes, power steering, tach dash, convenience group, F70x14 RWL tires, tinted glass, 3:00 standard diff, black interior. The reason we bought it was that my dad used to have one similar and we were trying to find one that was close. His original was Dark Ivy Green, shaker, 351W, 2bbl, 4spd, black stripe, green interior, dealer added a/c.

I used to own the "craziest" combo white-stripe '70 Mach I've ever seen.. It was an R-code 4-speed California Emmissions car, Calypso Coral with Vermillion interior, white shaker/stripes... PS, PB and 8-track too... It was a clean low-mile rust-free "driver condition" car that I was STUPID to let go, but there was this triple-black drag-pack SCJ Fairlane Cobra formal roof I wanted, and.... I traded the Mach away...

The white-stripe Calypso Mach was eventually restored (nicely), and I believe was sold into Australia...

Wow white stripes I have seen. Never saw, heard of or even dreamed of a white shaker. PLEASE post pics and maybe a copy of the build sheet. This needs to be evaluated and known by the VMF. Have you contacted Marti? You know maybe we need a photo section for the weird/rare/odd cars so these aren't lost to time.

After nearly 6 years, it's almost done! This car was originally sold in Montgomery, AL on 12/21/1970. Complete restoration to original, shaker with white stripe.

Man I love it when old threads are pulled out into the sunshine and the dust is blown off 'em.

1,372 total white stripe Mach 1's produced, it was an option that had to be selected when ordering. Early on you could get them with any exterior color. After Nov or Dec '69 they could only be ordered on Black or Dark Ivy Green Metallic.

time to bring this thread back...

who else has a white stripe/white shaker 1970 Mustang?

a few have been popping up lately...

a lot where repainted black so check your Marti.....

Apparently, the Lord of Light has a purpose for this thread and won't let it die. (Wow, from 2001!)

Would a Marti Report indicate white stripes as a special order, or something? My Marti report doesn't mention the color of the stripes. When I sanded down the original hood, I found remnants of black stripes, so that confirms it.

White Shaker

A Marti will show under option list stripe color on a Mach 1.......either black stripe or white stripe.

It’s my understanding if it’s a shaker car the stripe color is also shaker color.

If you have a really old Marti or non Mach 1 may not show up

Thus a white stripe ( you had to intentionally pick it as black stripe was usually the default color) shaker car would have a white shaker.
