Hi from the UK, having a headache fitting standard starter motor for a 69 351c, have Hooker headers which dont help. just had engine rebuilt to street/strip form and for ease want a compact. I see there is a compact one for the 351w but not the 351c or does someone out there know different?
Thanks Rob:)

That's the one I have, works great. A word of warning. Forget the MT and AT labeling, it's a sure fire way to get the wrong starter. Use the SFD0001 for any 157 tooth MT or AT flywheel, including 5.0 V8 and used the SDF00012 for any 164 tooth MT or AT flywheel. I went through this when I ordered mine from DB. I ordered the SDF0012 when I swapped my C4 for a Toploader and it just spun with out engaging the flywheel. I spoke with DB and they set me straight and explained the differences. I'm using the SDF0001 in my 4 speed car

157 tooth flywheels have the ring gear set back about 3/8" while 164 tooth flywheels have the ring gear flush. Catalogs list the 164 tooth starter as manual versions and 157 tooth as automatic. It works if your automatic is 157 tooth and the manual works if you have the 11", 164 tooth flywheel. Double check before you order!

Im using a starter off a 1987-1993 mustang 5.0, Its smaller than the earlly model starters, and It has more cranking torque. But with a price tag of $43 and some change, that db starter might be the better deal.

There are two starters - long nose and short nose. If you can see most of the gear then it is a long nose. Look at yours and the DB electrical pictures and you will get the right one.
