Hi Guys,

Having some issues with the horn in my 65. I don't have any wiring diagrams for this car yet, and trying to decide if the wife likes the car before I sink any more money into it.

I jumped the horns at the radiator support and the wiring/connections/horns are fine. I have power behind the horn switch. I got a test light in between the wheel and the column and was able to test that horn power is being passed through to the slip ring when the horn button was pressed. So looks like my issue is somewhere in between the slip rings and the horns.

There are two plugs coming off the column, one a 6 wire and one a 2 wire. Quick check with the test light while engaging the horn switch didn't show anything activating with the switch...

I need to go get my steering wheel puller from a buddy who never gave it back so I can check the connection to the slip ring. Leaving in a few minutes to go grab that...

Figured I'd throw a feeler out here to see if anyone could give me some help to what color wire I might be looking for coming out of the column and if there were any obvious places I should check?

I'll hunt it down eventually, just looking if anyone could help me save some time.

Thanks,
Kyle

Best to order all the horn ring guts from NPD and start with good stuff. Youre way ahead of the game if you have 2 good horns, good relay (if so equipped) and solid wires. 67t5ponycoupe is spot on, it is a yellow w/green tracer, but I have seen solid yellow too. You may have to replace the turn signal switch as this unit carries the
contact wiper buttons. Get an Osborn or similar wiring diagram book if you dont have one yet, very helpful. Good luck.

Starting to look like a broken wire. Horn works if I jump at the firewall on the main disconnect plug, but no signal coming out of the main disconnect when horn button is pushed. Getting a signal on the body side of the turn signal plug when the horn button is pushed. Got a be the 461 wire between the main disconnect and the turn signal plug...
