Ladies and Gentlemen,
What are the differences between original 65 GT fog light assemblies vs. 66/67 originals or reproductions?

Thanks,

Are you asking about a specific part? The light housing is the same between the '65 and '66 (can't comment on any '67 parts). The general difference in these between originals and repops is, the originals are stamped with a Ford script, IIRC.

The bars are indeed different between '65 and '66, and left side/right side. The bolt hole to mount the light housing is in a different location. The differences between originals and repops of these parts are, the originals have the word "Prestolite" cast on the backsides.

Obviously the center grille section (corral) are different between a '65 and '66. The '66 doesn't have the upper and lower "bars" cast on like a '65. The '66 uses a unique corral to mount the foglight bars to.

Additionally, the support brackets are different between '65 and '66. The '65 supports are part of the grill assembly, which makes the whole grill unique. The '66 supports are bolt on pieces to a standard grill.

If anyone knows any corrections or additions, please feel free to jump in here and correct me or add more. I don't have my references in front of me and am shooting of the top of my head! :)

If you're talking about the foglight housing, bezel and bulb, the 65 and 66 are the same.
(The '68 housing has the cutout or notch exactly 180-degrees from mounting stud. The
65/66 housing has it on the same side as the mounting stud, otherwise the housings are
the same. The notch was to drain any water that got in there)

Lamp pigtails are basically the same for 65/66, terminating in single bullet connectors. The
'68 pigtails terminate in a twin connector, one male and one female.

Don't know a thing about 67 fogs........

The 65, 66, and 67 bulb housings were identical. The 68 almost was, but since it was mounted reversed, with the bolt at the top, the drain was moved. The bars for 65, 66, and 67 are different. The 65 uses the same center as the standard grille, as does the 67, but the 66 fog center is unique to the fogs. The brackets for the lamps changed completely every year.

The reproductions are quite good. If you had one lamp of each installed on a car, it would be difficult to spot which was which.
