I've taken apart the console to try and clean it up the best I can. Here's a pic of all the parts from the console (minus the upper front part w/ the radio & door).

1) Am I missing parts? I know I need a lens cover for the rear light, and I think there's supposed to be a light under the "PRND21" section. Anything else?

2) The big metal part not attached (that allows shifter movement) is turned over. I sprayed the backside w/ Krylon aluminum metallic paint as a test. I also sprayed the little metal insert that surrounds "PRND21". I'm not attempting a concours restoration, but I do want it to look good. Thoughts?

You will also need the plastic connector that will move the light under the shift indicator. I cleaned up the console for my 1967, and kept it simple. I cleaned up the plastic, repaired it where needed, used self etching primer, and repainted it. My metal was in good shape, but if you have concerns with yours, I think NPD sells a kit that will dress up the metal plates.

there is a flat plastic strip that goes along over the shifter in a slot. A bullet shaped light assembly, and a plastic rod that connects the light assembly to the shifter.

Replace the plate that goes around the shift pattern. It's supposed to be brushed aluminum, to match the console plate. Silver will look odd. They don't cost much.

Thanks for the responses. I was doing some more research, and apparently the connector is supposed to hook onto the shifter somehow. But I don't recall seeing a place for the connector on the shifter today when I was looking at it. I'll try and get a pic of the shifter tomorrow afternoon.
