I just got in the parts for replacing most of the parts on the front suspension and now I'm having second thoughts. Here is the kit in question. STARTER STEERING & SUSPENSION KIT 1967 ALL 1967-1967 | CJ Pony Parts

How much time should I budget to get this done? Any tricks I need to know or concerns I should have with tackling this job myself?

It took me three days working 6 to 8 hours per day. The hardest part, at least I thought it was, was putting the springs back in, and I'm ASE certified.

I just finished up the front suspension on my 67 coupe. New springs, UCA, LCA, perches, shocks, and I did the arning drop while I was in there. I did it over the course of a week (4-5 days) working on it about an hour to an hour and half each night.

The two most time consuming things were the coil springs and the strut rod bushings. Luckily I didn't even need to use the spring compressor to get the new springs in. I got the 1 inch drop springs; the shorter springs combined with the Arning drop I was able to just pop the new springs in.

The strut rod bolt on the other hand was a pain in the butt! That nut doesn't have a breaking point where it will just spin off by hand. It fought me every thread of the way to come off. I needed a breaker bar the whole way and my breaker bar is not ratcheting! lol

I don't see why it couldn't be done over a long a day or over the weekend if you don't rush yourself on the first day.

Do the shelby drop, and get a good internal spring compressor. A full weekend and you can get it done.

Took me about 4 days to do suspension (UCA w/ Arning drop, LCA, roller perches, springs (stock), shocks, sway bar (1"), strut rod bushings), PLUS Unisteer power rack AND disk brakes (not including master cylinder). I am not fast, and I was taking time to clean up and respray most of the reused parts and areas normally covered up.

Good spring compressor is KEY.

I just purchased the same kit which should arrive this week. Searching through the threads I stumbled on several references to a guide of some sort with specs for front and rear suspension set ups. My goal is to eliminate the sagging rear end and level off the car a bit. I have 14" rims all around but may eventually move to a 15" setup with larger rear tires. Does anyone have a link to this thread on suspension configurations? For the rear will going to a 5 leaf spring help?

Before suspension overhaul with old 4 leafs and stock springs (215 60 14 tires):

After suspension overhaul with new 4.5 leaf mid eye, big block springs with 1/2 coil removed, and shelby drop (245/255 45 17 tires):

It depends on what you have available for tools. I could probably do that kit in about 2 1/2 - 3 hours per side on jack stands in the garage. Add another 1/4 per side to do the Arning Drop.
