Just want to confirm that 67 Shelbys had a hood latch in addition to the hood pins ?

Any tips for installing the latch into a fiberglass hood ? I'm thinking it needs to be reinforced to hold-up over time...

Thanks, Chris

Yes it definitely did.
Mine was one of the steel frame/fibreglas shell versions, and I believe the latch was attached to the steel framing, so I'm not sure how the all-glass hoods work.

Mine is bolted directly to the fiberglass. So far it has held up - even when I forgot to install the hood pins once and drove it 60 mph down the freeway.

If you keep the hood pins adjusted properly then then hold the hood in place and there is no strain on the hood latch.

If I reinforce an all fiberglass hood with some metal (my Dad is amazing with fiberglass)where the latch bolts onto, can I skip the hood pins? I just don't like how they look.

Chris, my old 67 shelby also had the latch bolted directly to the fiberglass with no ill effects. As long as it's adjusted correctly so it doesn't keep a constant pressure on the 'glass it should be ok.
As far as the hood pin lanyards rubbing the paint, if you use the correct coated lanyards they shouldn't.

Thanks Daniel,
Mine is all glass, I don't see how it will be strong enough without some metal. I should have thought about this before )-: I'm so ready to have this baby done... should be this week.

Hey did you sell your 70 FB ?
You're welcome.
Yup, the Grabber went back home to Florida in August.
Best of luck with the rest of the build -

Another point on the fiberglass only hoods. It is important that the hood stops be adjusted perfectly so that they do not allow the hood to buffet when driving, but also do not apply to much upward pressure when closed.
