I've heard the Mac headers work. No other data past that

 

We got Sanderson headers for the GT40P heads.

We got the ceramic coated headers, make sure you mark "P" in the ordering box for the headers.

da "P" must be for Purdy. nice looking engine!:thumbsup:

 

I have used specific P headers with P heads. BUT, on one of my own vehicles, I used "regular" long tube headers and they worked with the P heads. You may have to change a plug wire boot ( to a different style/angle ), but that was all I had to do. Long tube headers give you more room than a typical shorty header, thus working with the P head.

I just got my gt40p heads back from the machine shop and plan on using Mac headers. All the info I've read suggest they work with both the P heads as well as standard which is a big selling point for me.

 

What MAC long tubes look like.

What a 71-73 302 manifold looks like. It won't work with PS as it dumps where the ram is.

Stock manifold. It could work in a pinch with a little grinding and a 90* boot. Use the correct P sparkplug as it is a little shorter. You will have to install the sparkplug before manifold.

 

My understanding is that HiPo (OE & reproduction) manifolds will work as well.

 

I used JBA headers on my 65 Stang, using gt40P heads and a 302 block. Also, no problem using an Edelbrock 289 performer intake.
