This aint going where you think

Okay. I have used NPD for many many years. I have ordered parts from them from NJ, PA, FL and now England. Currently I wait one to two months for my stuff as I use a freight forwarding shipper to get it to the UK

Okay today I am ten miles away from their Charlotte Branch as I am visiting NC. I am going to visit this morning

I spent a good hour Last night going through their catalogue page by page. Would you believe I need nothing!!! Honestly I can't find ten bucks of stuff I need. It's hilarious.

Two days from now I will think of something though, don't worry Rick

I always remember the one part I need, immmediately after returning from the Charlotte NPD. I seem to have some sort of mental block, or maybe its more like being a kid in a candy store- when I walk in everything seems to slip out of my mind- Maybe like movie theaters piping in the smell of popcorn- IDK. Same thing happens when I call them- as soon as they answer I can't think of all the things I need

Ummm..don't think they are open on Sunday? (Ill hate myself if they are with all the trips I have taken to see family above Charlotte on Sundays)
I'm fortunate enough to live close enough to swing by and pick up those oversized boxes to save on shipping.

NPD or Other Parts Supplier

I will make a list before I make a trip. Most of the time, I return home with close to nothing on my list as they are back-ordered. This is after I make a phone call to verify the items are in stock. I can see why Paddock and some others went out of business in the last few years.

Well start the hating cause they're 7 days/week. I think they are there till 5 pm on Sun (not 100% on the 5- but I was there about 1 or 2 weeks ago on Sunday)

As far as backorders and NPD- I have had 2 orders drop shipped- everything else was in stock. These items were an intake bolt set for a 302 (yeah I could see a b9 car but 302 was out of stock???) The other I can't recall but it was a trivial small item. This is over 2 yrs, prob about 100 different orders, and 10K worth of stuff. (and this is a 69 vert- some parts are unique to this and they are kinda rare) I tried to order from MU as I had a coupon- both items not in stock, shipped from the manufacturer, and "we don't know when you'll get it"- I hung up and called NPD- "oh we have that in stock" (0ne was a rack n pinion system)

Yep open on Sundays. Great bunch of guys in there taking phone orders and dealing with the counter customers

I made some future purchases early and spend about $120. Nothing to write home about but everyting was in stock. Also gave me a fox mustang catalogue and laughed that it was probably the most expensive free catalogue I could ever get.

Now in Blowing Rock NC at the Chetola Resort. Could not imagine a prettier place. 2 crates of beer a new NPD catalogue and the wife is sleeping, peace!

Cheers. Peter

Chetola is a nice place to visit- be sure to check out the little main street area in BLowing Rock- its very pretty as well. If you have time- grandfather mountain is about 30 mins away and is a very nice place to visit. I have a pic in my album from earlier this summer (taken in front of the peaks of Grandfather in the vert). Where you going from here? Asheville and the Biltmore house are great places to visit and Biltmore is decorated for CHristmas (about 1.5 hrs from you)

+1 on Blowing Rock. Check out Killwins (SP?). They make homemade fudge in front of your eyes. Talking a yard long 6" wide log at a time... Plus my boys love the playground across the street.

I need plenty of parts if you're looking to spend $ on something.

Yep Chetola lodge is gorgeous. Bought a fishing rod just to give the lake out front a go. We are having some terrific fog and unseasonably warm weather at the moment. Went on the blue ridge parkway today and doing some hiking, perhaps at grandfather mountain tomorrow. We are heading to Asheville after and definitely doing the Biltmore. Thanks for the tips. Peter

One other tip- the blue ridge parkway is nice around Blowing Rock- but its more beautiful near asheville- so if you have time- jump on in/around asheville and head south- you'll see very quickly how much more pretty it is down there. Don't worry its gonna get colder soon esp in ashville

And Fontana Dam is a pretty good place to visit. About an hour or so from Asheville. Beautiful up there.

And if you are near Hickory let me know. We can meet up for lunch.

War eagle. That's a kind offer and what makes this a great site.

Was out n the fishing this morning in the snow! Yesterday hiking in short sleeves, nuts!

Asheville tomorrow. Looks like a very cool place

Spares. I bought some already, electrical stuff for both cars. It helps that they have the same engines. About two years ago they changed the baggage allowance from two bags each to one. Bummer!

I do want a Radiator but will have that shipped

Cheers. Peter
