Anyone know of ones that you can give to a machine shop to have them make it? I got 3 different ones years ago from here, they had a scale marker (1" size compare in the PDF). The ones I'm seeing here, don't have a size reference.

If you don't have the ability to cut the pieces yourself and must take the drawings to a machine shop I think you would be better off buying the mounts from Ron Morris. I can't see a machine shop charging a small fee to do all of that cutting for you, I think it would be a large fee.

Those kits are $235.00, I don't know how much the plate steel is but there's a local shop with a cutting bed, they didn't charge much last time, but that was years ago.

I'll bring them in and find out.

In order to cut these parts, the PDF needs to be converted to a DXF file. I attempted to attach both of them, but this forum does not recognize the format. I can e-mail them to whoever wants them. Shoot me a PM

It makes a big difference, you need to clear the steering from the pan, starter and redesign your exhaust and if your running long tube headers and/or deep sump pan, get used to having your junk in the dirt or headers on craigslist. If you run shorties, its a downtube redesign. . If you are running a support strut under the pan tying into the LCAs, it has to be redesigned. Ask me how I know...

Yes my tremec alignment is almost stock and no trunk hacks.

That said, its a noticeable handling difference having that much weight an inch lower. You can also add an inch to your air cleaner filter. Non trivial - I’m jus say’n...

To add a little more to what dobrostang is saying; I went 1" lower and back several inches (the front of my 351 block is almost even with the front of the shock towers) which required a bunch of "tweaks". I went the route of building my own headers and had to get a custom oil pan from Armando (highly recommended for your custom pan needs). I am installing a Unisteer rack set-up and had to completely rebuild the attachment bracket.

Consider looking at all of these issues before going there. It might be easier dropping it straight down and maybe 1" back, but I would be curious to see how the stock suspension components clear. A 289 / 302 will make a difference, with drive line angles as compared to a 351, but still have the same issues with the pan.

A lot of work for a better handling, I think it will be worth all the effort.

Been a long time since I've been on this site. If anyone needs any of the files, just let me know. Send me a PM and I can email you the files. The PDF was intended to be used to trace the cut lines onto plate steel, for cutting them in a bandsaw. The DXF file (a CAD file) is indeed what most water jet table systems use.

Keep in mind the issues with the engine crossmember and potential header clearance issues when dropping the motor. Moving the motor back an inch or more will require a shorter driveshaft and, at least for my 70 with A/C, clearance issues with the heater core/hoses and valve cover.

Hey pal how have you and the family been doing? Good to see you back around. Hope all is well, I was just wondering about you in the last couple of weeks.

Well I haven't driven the mach in 3 years, if that tells you anything LOL. I have a whole bench of parts that I've been meaning to put on the car (including a new set of 11R heads).....but alas they sit and collect dust. The kids are 7 and 5 now and in multiple sports year-round, so its work/sports/sleep on repeat. I'm also about to become a partner in the engineering company I've worked for since college, so that extra responsibility also takes away from free time. Busy busy, but very good!

I can certainly understand being busy with the kids activities and year around sports. My does time fly my two are 19 and 14, enjoy it while they are young before you know it they'll be wanting to do there own things. Good luck on your new partnership.

Are there any options other than Ron Morris or custom fab for lowering the engine height?
I’m only looking to drop 1 inch and maybe moving back 1 inch.

Also, how far back can you move it without conflicting with the cross member and steering linkage, assuming stock oil pan?

Hate to bump a thread this old, but I have been looking for some adjustable motor mounts with rubber bushings. Everything comes with poly bushings these days, and they are just too stiff and noisy for me, especially for motor mounts. I came across the original build thread from beuning, but it looks like he hasn’t been around in a while.
Does anyone have the CAD file from him or know if there are rubber bushings that fit the Ron Morris mounts?
