Am I crazy?

Okay for a long time I've wanted a 50ish car with lots of chrome. I've looked at Fairlanes, Buicks, and even Caddies. Today I saw this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=593664039

If I can get this for 4,500 and sell my stang I'd have plenty left over for mods. This could be one bad ride! Forget that it's a 4-door! Think suicide doors! In a coupe of years a few thousand bucks I could have an all out street rod! What do you think?

Yes, but whatever floats your boat/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif No if you like the big boats with lotsa chrome from the 50's then go for it. Just remember that replacement parts are not going to be as easy to come by as they are for a Mustang. fd

Not really my cup of tea, but if you like it then go for it. I agree that parts are going to be a bear to find. What about a 56 Chevy? They have lots of chrome, they are big, they look cool, and you can get parts. OR ...even a 56 Farlane. Both nice cars.

Not knowing what options your car has, even as an optionless mustang, your car is worth quite a bit more

And as other posts said, finding parts will not be as easy as you think, plus I'm sure they won't be as cheap.

It would be nice as a second or third car, but not as my primary.

Well let's see, it's about the right color so just mount a turrent on top and a couple of 50 caliber machine guns in the back seat area and you'll have no problem in traffic. That sucker probably weighs more then an M1-A1 tank. You can use it to rid the world of all those %&#*&!! rice rockets, you probably wouldn't even feel the bump when you run over them! OZ.

A friend of mine just bought a Buick just like that as a second project (his other rod is a '41 Ford Coupe). While they are pretty nice looking, I don't think you should sell your Mustang for one. You'd always regret it. You'd be better off to wait until you can afford both! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I don't know about you other guys but I kinda like that car to. I've always liked the 50ish cars, but man, hard to find parts for 'em. But if I had to make up my mind, I think I would get both!!! (okay, like don't you need money first, DANG!!!)

When you aren't lookin for it,
you ALWAYS find it!!!

Of course you're crazy!! It's part of your job description!

Oh yeah, the car. . . looks nice, but it's not my cup of tea. If you like it, go for it!

JB - I don't think I'd trade your mustang for the Buick, but if you want me to check it out for you I will. Morgan City is not that far away from me. Dickson

Depends. What do you want more from a car? The joy of looking at it or the joy of driving it? That car, LOOKS cool, but probably drives, even fully restored mechanically, like an oceanliner.

The mustang looks cool and is fun to drive. You can carve corners in it. Has some "seat of the pants" feel. It will have a higher resale value, and a larger market of potential buyers if you ever decide to sell. Parts will also be easier and cheaper to find.

Personally, I'd keep the mustang.

OK, now I read the "REST OF YOUR POST"...

I guess I don't notice the "Sell my Stang" part the first time I read it.

HEHEHE. Yeah, the tank thing might be fun eh?

I'm glad someone else it with me! BTW, aren't there any NPD's for 50's cars? I seriously considering buying one once I can collect enough funds to afford one and my Mustang. I really like the front ends of the Buicks. Remember the Buick in "Rainman?" That's the ultimate for me. I really like the Galaxy/Skyliner RetracOtops too, but they are a little out of my price range right now. Thanks for your imput VMF!
