C-4 Tranny Help

I am rebuilding my 66 Mustang C-4 transmission. In rebuilding the valve body with a TransGo kit, my shop manual only indicates a small disc shaped check valve in the upper valve body. Previous Mustang Monthly articles indicate additional rubber covered ball checks. I was very careful when separating the two halves and only found the disc check valve exactly where the shop manual indicated. There were no ball checks. Also, the Transgo kit did not have any ball checks. Can anyone tell me if there any I could possibly have missed? Thanks.

As I recall, there were no check balls in my 66 valve body, however, there were 2 black check balls in the 67 vavle body that I did. If you have a 66 valve body, you are probably alright, as the article was likely referring to the later models. If you have a 67-69 vavle body, you probably missed them falling out or something.
