The number of leafs will not change your ride height. Go buy a set of 4.5 leaf stock height springs and a 1" shackle lift kit from cj pony. We have gone over this 3 times. You can also buy leaf springs that will raise your car from the stock height ,check with eaton springs and general springs and spring king. and get rid of your Air shocks and buy some generic gas charged shocks. I would go with the stock height springs and 1" shackle so when you get tired of the hillbilly race car look you can put the stock shackles back on instead of replacing your leaf springs. It may not sound like it but I am actually giving you good advice.Do not buy a shackle kit that raises your car more then 1".

OK, We are making progress. You need to keep in mind that when you replace the leaf springs you will also need new u bolts, shackle kit and front center mount bolt. Usually those parts are shot and rusted on. If it was my car and I was trying to keep the cost down I would install Air Shocks (just Kidding) Go buy the 1" Shackle kit from CJ pony parts it is a Scott Drake part # RSK-12 They are 21.99 each you will need 2. That will help but I can not say it will fix the problem. You really need the correct backspace wheels to keep the tire inside the wheel wells so they can not rub. I may give you crap but I will always help you. Keep us posted.

who did you buy your wheels from? They sold you rear wheels with the wrong backspace for your car. You need a 15x8 wheel for the rear with at least a 4.5" backspace and 4.75" would be better. I would look into just replacing the rear wheels and using your current 245-60-15 tires for now. look into Eagle or american racing (now made in China)

just put shackles on it if you just want it a little higher to get some tire clearance.

no need to replace the whole rear suspension just to raise the car a little. i also dont know why people hate air shocks so much, they work fine for most daily drivers, dont do anything for handling but they do what they are inteded to do.

You do realize that Mustangs,Falcons,Comets,Fairlanes are not built to have the upper shock mounts support the weight of the car? And that is what Air shocks do. And in the long run Mean66 will be better off fixing his car correctlly and that means the right wheels, tires, leaf springs and shocks.

I got the wheels at America's Tire Co. I'm going to take it in this weekend to get the backspacing checked out. The wheels I have on the back are 15x7. Not to jump too far ahead but what about the front wheels. I already installed KYBs on the front but I'm sure the springs need to be replaced as well. What do I need to do to even out the height to the back. The fender is sitting a little low I would say.
