The price for some of these N.O.S. parts
are just getting crazy! If I had only known
and bought some of these parts back in the late
70's when I worked at a Ford dealer in the parts
dept. As an employee I could have bought parts
at dealer cost! Where does it go from here!

I can have 100 originals re-Zinc plated for less than these!
For some reason people are afraid of platers. I see strikers, latches etc as well as phosphated items selling for huge bucks when originals can be done for pennies on the NOS dollar.

Can the original ,old parts be replated to look correct? I see Perkins was in @ $63 so it must be tough to get them where it is 100% ? Maybe a replated pair would bring $50.00 if they looked right?

Absolutely! The wiper nozzles are very easy, just bead blast and sand off with 400-600 grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. I can get a 5 gallon bucket of parts done in clear zinc for around $40. Can you imagine how many wiper nozzles I could get into a bucket that size!

I guess people just like ready-to-bolt-on parts. I don't know why so many are afraid of plating/restoring original stuff.

Someone is willing to pay!

I agree, that's ridiculous!

When I finally got the right zinc phosphate (Palmetto, thanks CT) it was terrific to be able to do up a batch of fasteners at my leisure. If I had only had the right material when I did my hinges and latch I could have saved big dough.

The only thing I have yet to find is someone in No. Calif. to do the zinc stuff.

I have a hard time just reading without commenting! I worked in product manufacturing engineering and design engineering for over 40 years. Most part costs depend largely on quantity. A great example is zinc plating. The process, labor, paperwork etc. is about the same for one small piece as 1000 small pieces. I agree, if you have 1000 to be done the cost each will be very cheap!

I've used Modesto Plating in the past for zincs. Phosphate I used a place (can;t recall th ename right this second) in Sac
