Fan to rad space

I've just installed an ACP 3-core aluminum rad in my '65 Mustang, 200ci 6 cyl., with a 6-blade OEM fan and no shroud. There's about 1/2" gap between the blades and rad (close). Is this acceptable?

A 1965-1966 Mustang 6cyl. 200 cid engine should have a "5" Blade A/C fan. The "6" blade fan was for '67 and later cars... but even so, It should not make much difference. It sounds about right.. Some '65-'66 6 cyl A/C cars did not receive fan shrouds...and some did. Of course, It's always better to have a shroud than not have one.

Take a pic so we can check it out anyway here..

"I’m running a stock radiator on my 289 HiPo build."

The question with that is...Just EXACTLY what Stock radiator are you using. If you are using a recent SGI/Spectra Premium/Four Seasons/Modine radiator within the last 8 years..they are all the same off shore (Taiwan) radiator made by the same maker. They are denoted by A White Decal with Blue Waves on it either on the top tank or on the sides of the radiator. The radiator only lasts 2 1/2 to 3 years with average driving. The top tank always fails and bursts or leaks on them..usually spraying coolant all over the engine compartment as well as the engine...ruining any engine paint. It's VERY common. I went through like 6 of them over the years.. I'll never buy one again. I use only Original Ford, or OLD Stock Modine radiators or Modern Aluminum ones...

You are using that Spectrum Premium Radiator on the track?!?!??!? OMG...!!!!!!

Wow, You really are dangerous...

That radiator is IN NO WAY meant for any kind of track use. It's barely decent enough for street use. It's literally only a matter of time before it (The top tank) explodes on you...

Dude, You need one of these...and some cans of Eastwood's Radiator Black... and it will never fail on you. The 2 row one actually have better cooling than the 3 row ones due to the huge cooling tube sizes...
