Where do you source your parts?

I find if I order from the USA I get hammered with the exchange rate, shipping and brokerage fees.

There is the Mustang Shop here in Calgary however I have not been overly impressed lately.

Thanks

I'm in Vancouver and the Mustang I'm building is outside of Kelowna a few miles. Just about everything I've needed I have got from the Mustang Shop in Calgary. The few pieces I tried to save a few bucks on and bought locally were inevitably wrong, so there was no savings. There have been delays in getting parts from the Mustang Shop but I aways just worked on something else till I got what I was waiting for.

They are typically very slow with e-mail responses, to me anyway. Sometimes weeks, and then I have to resend the email again in order to get a response. Seems like a high turnover of staff as the person I deal with for one oder is no longer there when I follow up later to check the status.

Does anybody have any experience with these guy's?

Mustang Depot
Mustang shop, npd, open tracker, mustang depot. Ordered from all of them. No complaints about mustang depot. But the parts are all waiting for warmer weather to be installed.

I live in the Niagara area about 20 minutes from the US border. Over the past 25 years I have ordered from many Mustang suppliers in the US, some like Mustangs Unlimited, long gone
I use a mail box service in Niagara Falls New York where shipments are accepted from just about any business in the US for a nominal fee, they will even take shipments of complete vehicles.
I then take a short trip and bring them back myself. This way I don’t have to pay brokerage fees and on the odd occasion if the dollar amount is not excessive the border agents just wave me through and so I don’t pay the GST/PST.

I too live in the Toronto area and have ordered some stuff from Mustang shop in Calgary just to try and keep the Canadian business alive. Unfortunately they have been pretty useless and slow with stuff. My go to is NPD or Kentucky Mustang. If I need it now, I order from one of them and have it shipped to one of the US mailbox places in Niagara Falls. On occasion I have ordered stuff from one of the venders who go to the Columbus Ford show and pick it up there. For any sheet metal I go down to Golden Leaf Automotive who is the Canadian Arm of Dynacorn. They're located in Vaughn about 25 minutes from my house. They also ship if required.

So... I couldn't find a right rear parking brake cable here in Eastern Ontario and went ahead and bought one from NPD. The item was shipped along with a few other parts by UPS. Upon arrival the box was pretty beat up! Fortunately no damage. But what really upset me was the cable was a name brand (Wagner) and made right here in Brampton Ontario. Close to 30% exchange rate plus US tax and brokerage fees, It was close to double the money. My rant for the day.

If you are in Southwestern Ontario you can use Shippsy. You are assigned an address in Sanborn NY. They receive the shipment and bring it over the border to one of their warehouses. The cost is $6.95 per package plus the HST on the item price. Can’t beat it.
