Hi Guys,

Just looking to find out how much machined shaft is exposed on your TKO 500/600 setups. What I am looking for is pictures or dimensions taken from the edge of the black rubber seal to the end of the machined part of the yoke. I've been getting inconsistent reports varying between 0.5 and 1.5in of exposed surface and wanted to know what you were all running successfully.

Thanks in advance!

WOW that was close.....

AH... anyway in a car I always use the good ol 2 finger method works out to about 1 1/2". 1/2" seems too tight to me,2" is too much.

Remember the boot on the back of the trans is flexable.
What you want to do is slide the yoke in,by hand, all the way then slide it back about 1 1/2" and messure for the drive shaft.

But that said you need to talk with the people doing your drive shaft and ask them how they want you to messure everything. That way everybody is on the same page.

I don't have a TKO (T5z), but the trans type really isn't the issue. I have about 1/4" to 3/8" exposed...that's all. A little math and measurement of rear end travel will reveal how much the driveshaft will move in and out. With my driveline angles, the shaft won't move more than 1/8" to 3/16". Like it was mentioned, the rubber boot covers more length that the driveshaft can move inward...a good 1/4" more on a T5z.

Yep. use the two finger rule...unless you have thick fingers like me. Then just whip out the tape. 1 1/2 at the most. My first attempt at the intall on my tko-500 left the tail shaft hanginh out almost 2 3/4 inch. The result..vibrations! Had the tube recut and sized. Runs nice and smooth.

Mine measures out at 1 1/4. This is from the tail shaft to the start of the yoke. So I have 1 1/4 with no seal and with the seal i have 3/4.
