They aren't super tight. The rotor goes on top and keeps it down too.
It shouldn't be all wiggly though.

 

yeah mine is super loose. weird. not sure if i can call pertronix and ask them to send me a new one.

 

If you're talking about the reluctor sleeve that goes over the distributor cam, a cam that has been worn might make the sleeve fit loose, as may a reman-d distributor that has had the cam reground. It would be perfectly alright to "shim" the sleeve with an appropriate product...I'd suggest a couple turns of teflon tape. You DON'T want to use anything metallic or with an adhesive.

 

well the distributor is new, so i may try to teflon tape route. I would just wrap teflon tape around the part the sleeve goes over and then make it put it over it. That should solve my issue.

 

This is the Ignitor 2? I have this, the sleeve fit snugly over my re-man distributor. But I found an Ignitor 3 for a good price and decided to upgrade. It does not use a sleeve so that became a non-issue.
