hey all

have my T10 tranny at the shop for some work and was going to clean up the shifter. i came across a couple things that concern me, these all revolve around the bottom end of the shifter, here goes in no particular order:

my shifter boot had a tear in it. i have a new one. how do you get it onto the lever? over the reverse "T" at the handle OR over the mounting bracket on the bottom?

there looks to be 2 little "plungers" one on each side of the shifter lever at the bottom. only one of those plungers has a spring behind it. should there be a spring behind each plunger? perhaps somebody lost one? any ideas where to get these springs?

in the bottom of the handle or lever there are the 2 mounting bolts that mount the lever to the tranny. one of the two holes has what looks to be a rubber bushing in it. the other hole has nothing in it. i think i may be missing it and needing that rubber bushing? any ideas where to get these?

thx a lot!

1) Remove the knob and slide the boot over the T, one leg of the T at a time.
2)1 spring behind each plunger, 2 total.
3A)1 rubber bushing in each hole along with a special shoulder bolt and special washer.
3B)Scott Drake C5ZZ-7208-AK Shifter Rebuild Kit 4-Speed 1965-1968
3C)F-897 Mustang 65-73 Man. Shifter Handle To Shifter(2) Hardware Only 1965-1973 | CJ Pony Parts
CJPP markup on small AMK Hardware is insulting!
For example the F-896 kit above is $5.99 from CJPP vs. $1.50 from National Parts Depot (https://www.npdlink.com/store/products/washer_kit_shifter_handle_concours-167507-1.html)
and $1.50 from AMK direct. CJPP has a ridiculous markup on tons of AMK hardware kits.

Here is a shifter rebuild kit from NPD for $13.40
https://www.npdlink.com/store/products/repair_kit_4_speed_shifter-105676-1.html
if you need the screws and washers just add $8.00
https://www.npdlink.com/store/products/mounting_kit_shifter_handle_ford_shifter-105681-1.html
instead of the $29.99 kit from CJPP!

The best search function is actually talking to someone in the phone. What up with the shipping ? Don't you want the FedEx man to eat and have a house to sleep in ? Pay the man, he's doing a service.. Cheaper than us driving across the country to visit NPD in person, and then paying sales tax.
