I know the best is to rechrome the originals but has anyone used any of the repop vent windows for 65-66s from NPD or anyone else? Years ago there was not a really decent one on the market. Have they improved? How well does the chrome hold up?

Thanks,
Andy

I have seen the repros installed by Glazier Nolan, and they aren't half bad. I understand that one or two of the seal rivet or screw holes needs to be re-drilled.

I have also seen the complete assemblies, which look pretty good, although I haven't installed one.

It takes a few years for the chrome to do its thing. Maybe they are fine. Maybe they are completely junk. You won't know until they have been on for a while. I'm sure they'll look fine for a while, but a reputable chrome shop is always best when compared to reproduction chinese chrome plating.

Did you put your original vent windows in there or are the windows repro too?? How much did you pay for the pair from NPD?

I put my orig. vent windows back in. I believe I paid 154 each for the frames. I only had to adjust the pivot point on the top of wing window a little to get them the close correctly.

paulschrome.com estimated $115 a frame for me a couple months ago. Your cost would be a little more considering new gaskets, etc but they'd be your original windows done by a reputable chrome shop (no, I'm not affiliated with them).

6T6Red - How long have they been on the car? Any extreme pitting?

Does pauls chrome do any disassembly/reassembly? Does any chrome shop??
I have only had them on the car 1 year. They have seen some moisture. They fit good and they still look good. I just keep them waxed up. I am very satisfied with them considering they are repop. Oh and no pitting yet.

It's even cheaper to rechrome the originals. Why is this a discussion? Would you rather pay more for something made by a slave child in China, or pay someone locally less money to rechrome your originals that you know fit.

As long as your originals are in good condition. Most are pitted badly.

When you get into the labour to fix the pits you are getting into nose bleed territory.

I bought a pair off eBay several years ago from California that will be going on my car some time. They only show some minor wear and are far superior to the originals on my car.
