Washer pump

I’m sure this topic has been discussed, but I have a single speed wiper motor with a washer. I just received a new harness for this. I know the pump is grounded to the body of the car and the black wire goes to the switch. But the harness came with a short white wire. Where does this go? I have a round switch with 7 connectors on the back. I’m assuming the black wire goes to one of them. I can figure that out, but the white is confusing.

Negatory my good Woodchuck. My 66 has a single speed wiper with only one wire going to the pump.
Pump has 3 mounting screws with the motor can mounted on top and on blade connector.
Car has been that way since I bought it from the original owner in 1977. Ironically a dead washer pump was the first thing I fixed on the car. Found an identical replacement off a full size ford in the wrecking yard. All the mustangs had some weird pump with two wires that definitely did not match my car.

There is no Single-Speed Washer pump versus Dual-Speed Washer pump... It is just Early Washer Pump style (3-Screw) versus Later Washer Pump Style (2-Screw)....and both were also installed at the same time in different Plants. The Earlier pump has a copper/brass band loop that one of the screws goes through for grounding of the pump. You can see it on the Left in the first photo. The other Later pump has internal grounding that grounds through the body of the pump itself when it gets screwed to the fender apron...similar grounding as in the earlier pump... The wiring for both pumps is different too with different connectors.

My 66 was built in April 66 in Dearborn and is the early style. My understanding is the top style pump came with single speed wipers and the bottom pump came with 2 speed wipers.
You are correct, sir. Late 66 2-speed included a switch that turned the wipers on when you pulled the switch. 65 and early 66 2-speed did not have this feature.
I appreciate everyone’s comments, but I still need know where to put the white wire. I have a pump like the top picture.
Show us the wire.

Your wire is for a 65 Mustang. In 65 the washer was an optional accessory. When it was ordered, a different switch was used. The normal wiring harness and switch didn’t have provisions for the washer. The extra wire connects to the accessory plug off the fuse block. It provided power to the switch for the washer. The black/white wire then carried power to the pump.

Page 71 of the 65 electrical assembly Manual shows the wiring. It’s also shown as wire 958 on the schematic

If I remember correctly in 66 the power wire is integral to the harness since the washer was standard on all cars.

In the pic it’s a bit hard to see, but the yellow arrow points to where the white wire plugs into the accessory plug.
The red arrow points to both the white wire and black/white wire where they are going to the switch. The Blue arrow shows the Black/white wire heading to the pump.

"My understanding is the top style pump came with single speed wipers and the bottom pump came with 2 speed wipers. "

Nope. That's an old belief which has been discussed quite a few times over on the "Concours Mustang Forums" as well.

Again, There IS NO SUCH THING as a SINGLE SPEED or DUAL SPEED Washer pump. Only Early versus Later Style.

There have been plenty of cars found with Single Speed Washer Motors and Later style Washer Pumps. It was just a variation, but one in which it caused a certain, specific wiring harness for each.

We had this very same argument back in January 2018....
