I have some fender mounted turn signals that have been on my 66 coupe for more than thirty years (and still work). I think they might be sourced from a T-bird or Falcon, but I don't know for sure. They do have a Ford logo on the lenses, but I haven't pulled them off to see the P/N. Any one know where they are from and if they're worth keeping as I restore the car? I don't have a good pic, but you can get the idea from this picture (not my car, BTW). They are on the top edge of the fender, right above the 289 emblems.

Hard to tell from the picture, but I would guess 64 T-bird. I put a set like that on my '64 Galaxie about 35 years ago. Went with the ex-wife.

I'll try to pull one off tonight and post the numbers. They do look like they're made for the car and were used because the driver (my wife's grandfather) was deaf and needed a reminder his signals were on. He also added a back-up beeper (like UPS trucks use) under the dash in line with the turn signals. Freaked me out when I first drove the car and used them for a turn. Fortunately he put a bypass switch... I don't wish to be deaf.

Very 64 T Bird'ish. I would pull one off and check for a Ford part number or (shudder) JC Whitney.
Thanks for you and Jeff putting me on the right track. I looked up some 64 T Bird pics and voilĂ ! I actually kind of like the look on the Mustang even though it's not from a Mustang. It is functional and certainly unique.

i seem to remember there was a dealer option for something like that at one point in the mustangs history. could this be them? don't know but i do remember a dealer "accessory". are these fiber optic, or do they have a bulb?

I've also read they were a dealer option.

There are two different versions of those Thunderbird turn signal indicators. In 1964-65, they sat on a ridge on the fender, while in 1966, the top of the fender was flat and the indicators were shaped accordingly. I don't know where they are mounted on your Mustang, but from the picture you showed, it looks like they sit on the outside edge of the fender, for which the 64-65 version would probably fit best.
