First of all, howdy to the old veterans of the forum, I've been away quite a while. I believe this is the year to get rid of the sloppy steering in my car and convert to Rack and Pinion. I've narrowed it down to Unisteer and TCP by doing an extensive search of previous threads and other websites. So my question to you all is, which is the better product? I don't want a rack that makes a larger turning radius as I've heard other brands will. I do run Hooker long tube headers on my 289 so I'd prefer no clearance issues. So all in all, what's your guys opinions? I'm not worried about price, I'm worried about getting the best product that isn't going to require me hacking apart my frame to make it fit. The help is much appreciated guys. I know this dead horse has been beaten enough but I never found a thread that answered this question satisfactorily.

I have the unisteer because I wasn't convinced the TCP would clear my 351w swap headers and a z-bar. The unisteer will clear pretty much anything. However if you are sure the TCP will clear, it is supposed to be easier to install. It is also supposed to be superior, but I think that is subjective, as I can find nothing wrong with my unisteer.

I went with TCP Manual R&P with a 351 in my '67 Shelby clone. No issues. I did a lot of research last year and settled on TCP due to the reviews. I'd have liked to do a power steering as well, but decided it wasn't worth the extra $$$ for me.

Manual unisteer rack & pinion

I just installed a Manual unisteer rack and it's very heavy in the driveway, not to bad when you get going. I'm running 245 tires so I'm sure that doesn't help.

Very heavy with 245 z-rated tires at low speeds. I plan to add an adjustable electric booster, my rotator cuff can't take parking the car too often. On the road it feels perfect though.

How are you guys running 245s up front? I dropped to a 205 and am not having any problem. I've heard you can tell a difference with 225s, but can't speak to it first hand.

Are you guys saying that the unisteer setup will let you run the factory z bar?

Why does unisteer exclude the Cleveland's ffor their kits?

afaik no one sells a 351C power steering pump mount in a kit.. make that in a "cheap" kit.. maybe with krc pump but not a stock looking kit

borgeson doesnt either..

I have the TCP rack and it has room to spare around the 1+3/4 Hooker Super Comps, no clearance issues what so ever.

+1 I was going to reference slowpoke has sent me pictures and the TCP looks like it clears everything just fine.
