hello guys

my 1965 coupe manual don't have AC
i would like to buy a kit and let a technician do the the work

my question for you is >>>

is it good or bad for the engine ?

my engine is in good condition i don't want any new problem with it

thank you

It won't cause your engine any problem. You, "might" ,should upgrade the cooling system, but that depends on the condition of it now and whether it is totally stock.

This type of system looks like it would be easy for a 'do it yourself' at home install. You'd just need to drive over to the local shop and have them charge up the system when you're done.

I believe this looks like the system that would have come from the factory in 65.

Here's a video install so you can see what you're getting into

I don't have experience with this system, but will be looking at different setups for my project.

I purchased the CAA Perfect Fit AC. It is not that hard to install, you just need to remove the front seats so you can work under the dash a little easier. It comes with good instructions and you can ask them for any pulleys that you might need like a two sheave water pump pulley or crank pulley. I took it a shop to have it vacuumed down and filled with the Freon. Makes a world of difference for summer down here in the deep deep south. :grin2:

I did the Classic Auto Air on my 65. Chose this over the factory-esqe system so that I would not have the giant box on the floor and because I think a/c defrost is important.
My friend's son needed a techy project for his school mandated senior project - so the project became an instructional how-to - and in return - i had to less physical labor :)

The install was a breeze. It looks great. It works great! Here are all the pics.

One Note - I did upgrade to a 3 core radiator and Overflow tank. I also used a 'perfect fit' plastic fan shroud and a clutch fan.
FYI - the shroud required a LOT of trimming :)

I just installed a vintage air a/c and heat system in a '40 sedan- very easy to install, and it gets so cold we need to roll the windows down a bit!! I'll probably go with them again when I install in my wife's 66 'vert.
Haha, my wife gets so cold when she rides with me. I really crank it down to sub-zero temp...lol >:)
It sure makes a nice difference, in the summer, to go out to eat or a car show or just to visit someone and not be sweating to death when we get there. 0:)
