351C Alum. Head: Edelbrock has it on the "list of things to do."

I got a e-mail today from Ryan Scoltock @ Edelbrock Corp.
rscoltock@edelbrock.com

He said:

"From what I have heard so far, the Cleveland head is a project
we will be bringing to production eventually. However, it is on
the back burner for now. There are quite a few projects in front
of it right now. I would not expect them to begin development until
later this year, which means it will be at least until next June/July
before possible reaching the shelves. I know that is the some
time away, but, for now, you can look forward to a aluminum
Cleveland head becoming a reality in the future."

I WANT SOME!. I'll let you know what I hear from him.

forgive an ign-nert question, but other than less weight, how is an alum C head going to flow more than the 4 bbl ones do already? I thought the heads on a C were the ONE thing you DIDNT have to worry about.

I would be interested. They really do not need to flow more just balance out the flow between intake and exhaust. some port velocity would be nice also.....

I am looking for the weight savings. If they make a head that
can be ported more than a regular iron head, it will be a screamer.

and then Edlebrock won't have a market

The 3V heads are almost 3K bare. The Yates heads are close
to that. I would like to see a alum. Cleveland head, sell for the
price of a big block head from Edelbrock. Our '66 is going to have
a Cleveland too.

I think advantages of redesigning the cleveland head are spark plug location/angle, combustion chamber design, port configuration....

the ports on the 4v heads are seriously hindered at low rpms...

So a port similair to the yates head ports would be beneficial, (I am sure edelbrock will better the exhaust port to flow with some serious velocity)

The intake ports should be fine as is.....maybe some added material for port work.

I also think that the heads should offer some varying valve sizes....for different apps.

Heck I wouldn't mind having a big block *ahem* Cleveland under my hood
