Since I am replacing my 3-speed TL with a 4-speed TL, the cable routing is different between the two. I found the routing in the Ford manual for a '65 and I assume its the same as the '66, but does anyone have any pics of the way it is routed and where it is clipped to the tunnel and transmission crossmember? I know I have to drill a different hole and I have the correct location marked.

Also, I know on the '67's there is a hole to route it through on the crossmember, but there is not one on my '66 crossmember with the e-brake bracket on it. I get a general idea of how its routed from the manual, but actual pics are always better, if anyone has any to share. Thanks,

Tim

Thanks, Pete.

I searched all over pics and ran across the ones you linked. My transmission crossmember does not have a hole in it and has the bracket provisioned for the e-brake equalizer bar. Does the cable just route down and around it?

Here is the bracket I have.

Absolutely! Trying to decipher what the manual is trying to say can be challenging, especially with the picture they provided. It shows it looping through the crossmember in the manual, so thats where I was getting confused.

Thanks, Pete!

Ok resurrecting this old thread. Replacing the cable on a 65 Fastback with 289 & Toploader 4-speed. I’ve got the cable in, attached the clip shown in the picture at te crossmenber. The assembly manual shows a second clip on the tunnel, part number 380072-S100. I can’t f8nd a picture or info on this clip. What does it look like and where does it go on the tunnel?

I did the swap on my 66 years back. I'm trying to remember exactly where it clips. I currently have my car up on jack stands but I won't be home until next weekend. I think one of the spots as near the cross member. The cable doesn't go through the firewall the same spot as your old cable. It goes though just above the gas pedal and to the right about a inch or so off the firewall and on the trans tunnel. There is a dimple where to drill the hole.

I thought I had posted the location inside. I drilli my hole in the wrong spot. I wasn't aware of the dimple on the tunnel. I made a educated guess from a floor plan photo.
