It looks like Mobil 1 changed their packaging and no longer lists zinc content anywhere. 🙄

I want to get the right one. Does the standard 15w-50 synthetic still have zinc in it?

The Mobil 1 0w-40 and 15w-50 both have sufficient zinc / phosphorus for our flat tappet engines.

I don’t think the zinc levels were on the packaging, just the PDF spec sheets that listed all of their products specs.

PS: sone of the Mobil 1 racing oil and motorcycle oils have big zinc numbers too. But those oils are more expensive

since I moved to a state with 4 seasons I’ve switched to the Ow-40 formula about 10 years ago . Great product too.

VR1 is all I use in the flathead and the 289 “HP” I have.

What's interesting is that level of zinc doesn't match anything on the posted spec sheets.

So either that link is outdated, or the spec sheets are...

And the engine shops source is "trust me bro". Lol

Jokes aside, this wasn't meant to be another oil thread. I've always found it funny how protective people are of certain brands when a simple question comes up. For the record, I have nothing against VR1 what so ever.

Thanks for the responses about my original question. Too bad I you have to dig for a spec sheet to get some basic product info.

From Mobil 1 web site in response to a question:

Mobil 1™ FS 0W-40 oil already contains a higher level of ZDDP (1,000 ppm) that could benefit your flat tappet engine. We also have a Mobil 1™ High Mileage 10W-40 (1,000 ppm); see the Mobil 1™ Product Guide listing the phosphorous levels for all Mobil 1™ synthetic motor oils.

As a follow up, I emailed ExxonMobil and asked what the ZDDP level is in Mobil 1 15w-50, and this is the response I received today:

"ZDDP level in the current Mobil 1 15w-50 is 1320 PPM."
